Michigan Cannabis Sales Drop In September, 50 Retailers Highlighted, Many More In Operation

Cannabis sales in Michigan plunged in September.

Michigan’s $3.2 billion annual cannabis market saw a sequential and year-over-year drop of 11.3% and 5.8%, respectively, according to data published by the Michigan Cannabis Regulatory Agency.

The sequential drop in September marks the biggest month-to-month drop in sales since the 13.25% decline recorded between December 2023 and January 2024.

Medical cannabis sales dropped by 60.8% year-over-year to $403,124, while recreational sales saw a more modest 5.6% year-over-year decrease to $250.9 million.

The flower category dominated recreational cannabis sales in September – dollar-wise -generating $109.3 million. The medical market followed suit, with flower leading at $133,289 in sales. The price of the flower increased by 2.2% to $63.16 in September, compared to $61.79 in August.
